Writing a good About Me page is a challenging task. I followed Daniel Miessler’s advice and tried to summarise myself instead of writing another résumé. This is the result.
Introduction
My name is Ilia [Ee-lee-ýa]. I am an information technology professional currently specialising in cyber-security. I’ve had an exciting life so far – being born in a country that doesn’t exist anymore and having moved between countries twice already. As a result, I speak three languages – Russian, Hebrew, and English. I live in Melbourne, Australia, with my wife, two daughters, and a cat.
Life Believes
I believe in honesty and accountability. I also believe in punctuality. I think it’s a virtue. I don’t particularly appreciate when people make decisions or judge too quickly. Most of the time, if you stop and think for a second, you’ll realise that you don’t have enough information. I am not religious, and I don’t care much about politics.
Interests
I had a lot of hobbies over the years. I did scuba diving for a while. The peace and quiet of the underwater world were a stark contrast to the crazy world above the water. I was into photography until recently. Nowadays, I’m mostly consuming art rather than creating it.
I like reading books. I wish I had more time to read. Computer games are another one of my interests. Even though I’m not a professional software developer, I enjoy coding. Writing code is like a meditation for me. I used to travel a lot, both domestically and internationally. But the COVID pandemic changed it. I hope I’ll be able to travel again sometime soon.
Less serious
Every joke is… only part joke. I plan to live forever. So far, so good. I am a light-hearted individual trying not to take life too seriously. I like a good beer, so if you are ever in town, get in touch, and maybe we’ll have a few.
